Preserving the past while designing for the future is at the heart of our work. We recognise that conservation, restoration, adaptive reuse and renovation each serve different purposes, and we tailor our approach to the building and its context:
- Conservation – safeguarding the original fabric and structure from further decay
- Restoration – faithfully returning a building to its previous state
- Adaptive reuse – adapting a building for contemporary needs
- Renovation – revitalising a space for a new use
Our process begins with a site visit, detailed study, and client questionnaire to understand the building’s history, material condition, and your vision. We then identify opportunities for sensitive interventions that respect heritage while meeting contemporary requirements.
We then develop:
- Research & analysis of the building's significance and context
- Condition assessments and documentation to identify areas needing attention
- Moodboards & cohesive design language reflecting materiality and spatial character
- 3D visualisations illustrating how old and new elements coexist
- 2D drawings detailing transformation and preservation strategies
- Material research & sourcing to ensure authenticity and sustainability
- Permitting & legal compliance to meet regulations
